The M.A. in Interior Architecture + Design program at Marymount University is designated as a STEM degree. International students enrolled in this program can apply for a 24-month extension of their post-completion OPT (Optional Practice Training) for a total of 36 months. MASTER’S

First-Professional M.A. in Interior Design

The First-Professional M.A. in Interior Design is for those with a baccalaureate degree not in interior design or architecture. This program is perfect for creative individuals who are unsatisfied with their current career or career prospects. Upon completion of this program, graduates are equipped to go straight into the interior design workforce with the software skills and problem-solving techniques needed to succeed in a variety of practice areas.

Post-Professional M.A. in Interior Design

The Post-Professional M.A. in Interior Design is for those with a baccalaureate degree in interior design or architecture. This program is perfect for creative individuals who would like to expand their knowledge in areas related to evidence-based design research, design education, professional practice, digital technology, intrapreneurship, or business leadership. Upon completion of this program, graduates are equipped to go straight into the interior design workforce with the software skills and problem-solving techniques needed to succeed in a variety of practice areas.

  • 30 credits (M.A. degree attainable in 1.5 to 2 years)
  • Classes offered on campus full time or part time, day and evening
  • STEM designated degree
  • State-of-the art design facilities for experiential learning

The interior architecture + design program leading to the First-Professional M.A. in Interior Architecture + Design is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), www.accredit-id.org, 206 Grandville Avenue, Suite 350, Grand Rapids, MI, 49503. Marymount’s Post-Professional M.A. in Interior Architecture + Design is not accredited because CIDA does not accredit post-professional master’s programs. 

 

Marymount’s CIDA-accredited program prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional interior design organizations. ​The First-Professional Master of Arts in Interior Architecture + Design granted by Marymount University meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam).
