There is always a need for competent  practitioners in the pursuit of improving mental health and the MA in Counseling gives you the foundation and techniques you need to help others achieve improved mental health. Our degree paths in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a concentration in Pastoral Clinical Mental Health Counseling can prepare you to work with others struggling with mental health symptoms and diagnoses.

What Can I Do With an MA in Counseling?

An MA in Counseling can position you for roles in a number of behavioral mental health settings. A few career paths that value a background in clinical counseling can include: 

  • Clinical mental health counselors in private practices, clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation programs, substance abuse centers
  • Crisis intervention counselors
  • Family, group, and individual counselors
  • Counseling directors for shelters and homes for children and adults with developmental disabilities
  • Counselors working with emotionally disturbed or learning disabled youth
  • Career counselors
  • Employee assistance counselors
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams for the health of the whole person
  • Private practice counselors
  • Special focus with populations experiencing complex trauma, eating disorders, older adults, loss and grief, military and first responders (to name a few)
